Whitby/ George, South Africa. Bernie Trudel from Ottawa, ON, Carol Robinson
from Aurora, ON and Jean-Daniel Debkosky from Montreal, PQ secured the national
team championship at the 2006 BMW Golf Cup International World Final held at
the Fancourt Golf Resort, in South Africa from December 4-10. The Canadian
Team scored an impressive 308 Stableford points over the three round tournament
to triumph second place Philippines (302 points) and third place United Kingdom
(301 points), as well as the other 38 competing national teams.

Trudel also won the Men's 13-28 handicap category with a total of 121
Stableford points over the three rounds. As the category champion, Trudel is
invited to the European Tour's BMW International Open in Munich, Germany next
June to play in the Pro-Am Tournament.

"I am extremely proud of the entire Canadian Team," stated BMW Group Canada
President and CEO, Lindsay Duffield. "It was an outstanding performance in
defeating 40 other countries who competed for this honour."

The event is the culmination of the world's largest annual amateur golf series,
as competitors from 41 countries competed for individual titles in three
handicap divisions, and the overall Team title.

Trudel, a member of ClubLink's GreyHawk Golf Club and a 14 handicap, combined
three consistent rounds of 37, 39 and 45 Stableford points (121 total) to
capture the Mens 13-28 handicap category over Mark Scrutton of Great Britain
(115 total) and Kim Hock Chua of Singapore (114 total). Debkoski, also a 14
handicap and a member of ClubLink's Val des Lacs, placed 5th in the same
category with 110 points. Robinson, a 28 handicap and a member of ClubLink's
King's Riding Golf Club, ranked twenty-sixth in the Ladies division with 77
points.

This year's success continues a series of Canadian titles at the BMW Golf Cup
World Final that include victories in the men's 0-12 handicap division in 2001
and 2002 by Steve Harris and Steve Head respectively, the Ladies category title
win in 2004 by Bia Cho and Team titles in 2003 and 2004.

For seventeen years now, the BMW Golf Cup International has been synonymous
with providing amateur club golfers the opportunity to compete on the world
stage.  BMW subsidiaries and retailers coordinate the series on a national
level, while BMW AG of Munich organizes the World Final.  Over 1000 qualifying
tournaments were held worldwide in 2006 with more than 100,000 participants.
In its eleventh year in Canada, the BMW Golf Cup International grew to 54
qualifying events nationwide, with over 4000 Canadian amateurs taking part.
The Canadian team earned the right to represent their country by winning at the
national final held this past September at ClubLink's Grandview Golf Club in
Huntsville, ON. More information about BMW Golfsport can be found at
