At its meeting today, the BMW Supervisory Board was informed about the
situation of the Company - especially the situation at Rover - by the Managing
Board.
At this meeting, Bernd Pischetsrieder (50), Chairman of the Board of BMW AG,
asked the Supervisory Board to accept his resignation. The Supervisory Board
accepted his resignation and thanked him for working for BMW so successfully
for over 25 years.
Dr. Wolfgang Reitzle (49), Member of the Board responsible for "Market and
Product", also submitted his resignation, and the Supervisory Board accepted,
once again expressing its gratitude for his successful work for BMW for over 20
years.
The Supervisory Board appointed Professor Dr. Ing. Joachim Milberg (56),
currently responsible on the Board for "Engineering and Production", as the new
Chairman of the Board.
The Supervisory Board also appointed Dipl. Ing., Dipl. Volkswirt Carl-Peter
Forster (44), Dr. jur. Henrich Heitmann (57) and Dr. Ing. Wolfgang Ziebart
(49). Forster, who is currently head of BMW South Africa, will be taking over
"Engineering and Production"; Heitmann, currently head of the North and South
America sales region, will assume responsibility for "Sales"; and Ziebart,
until recently responsible for the launch of the new 3 series at BMW, will take
over the "Development" Division.
