BMW Sparte Motorrad last week unveiled its new entry in the luxury tourer class
of motorcycles on the occasion of the first bi-annual INTERMOT motorcycle show
held in Munich, Germany. The long rumoured and anticipated K1200LT was shown
for the first time to the assembled group of international motorcycle press at
a press conference hosted by Dr. Micheal Ganal, CEO of BMW Sparte Motorrad.
Canadian motorcycling enthusiasts and BMW motorcycle owners will be able to
view the new K1200LT during exclusive preview evenings at BMW dealers across
Canada in late November. The new K1200LT will be publicly presented for the
first time in Canada on the occasion of the Toronto International Motorcycle
Super Show in January 1999.
"The K1200LT is the latest in BMW's new product offensive," stated Thomas J.
Plucinsky, Manager, BMW Canada Motorcycle Division. "It combines class-leading
long distance comfort with riding dynamics unheard of in the luxury touring
class. It also brings to market unique luxury features such as a heated saddle
and backrest, trip computer and 6 disc CD changer."
Pricing has not been finalised but is expected to range from the mid to high
twenties. Retail deliveries will start in March, 1999.
BMW Canada Inc., located in Whitby, Ontario, was established in 1986 as a
wholly-owned subsidiary of BMW AG, responsible for the distribution of BMW
luxury/performance automobiles and motorcycles. BMW Canada's Motorcycle
