Once again, Her Majesty's secret service has called the world's most famous
secret agent into battle against evil: "The World Is Not Enough" is the title
of the new 007 film, and promises pure Bond action, suspense and adventure,
plus of course the best of high-tech and cutting-edge information technology.
Therefore, the starting point of the James Bond special at www.bmw.com is the
headquarters of the British secret service MI6 in London. It is one of the most
secure computer networks in the world, and offers access to information on all
of 007's secret activities.
The James Bond Special, online since 12 November 1999, offers the user an
unrestricted insight in the world of the MI6 central computer, via the
fictional user interface of the MI6 intranet. First, however, the user must
pass the 'identification control', in order to obtain information about the BMW
Z8 and Bond's current mission. The user enters their name, and goes through a
series of security checks, before receiving "authority" to access the secret
documents. Having been verified as a bone-fide "Agent", the user is given
freedom to explore the rich array of interactive, multimedia sites on the MI6
network. They see presentations by "Q" and the BMW project leader, Christian
Dietrich, about the features of the BMW Z8, including previews of the secret
James Bond special equipment, and much more.
The James Bond Special, programmed using exciting new Flash technology, brings
the user into close virtual contact with the MI6. Once the user has
successfully completed the research for the "mission", they receive extra
information about the film, plus the international cinema release dates.
