Whitby, Ontario ... BMW Canada Inc. introduced today a state of the art
innovation to their website (www.bmw.ca), that provides an easy and interactive
way for customers to configure 2000 model year BMW's online. BMW Car Builder,
the first interactive, real-time finance package and vehicle configuration
utility of its kind in Canada, will offer BMW enthusiasts and prospective
customers the opportunity to design the vehicle of their dreams.
"By taking advantage of Internet technology, our customers can now start their
car buying experience right in the privacy of their own home," explains Hendrik
von Kuenheim, President and CEO of BMW Canada Inc. "Customers will be able to
build a BMW in many different ways, eventually choosing the one most suited to
their individual needs, their lifestyle, and of course, their budget."
Interested individuals first decide on a BMW series vehicle - 3 Series, 5
Series, 7 Series, Z Series, M Series, or X Series (available later this year).
After the engine variant has been selected, the configuration process begins.
All option packages, transmissions, exterior, interior and rim selections are
available and interactive. At the same time, the financial calculator will
automatically update vehicle pricing and generate the appropriate monthly
payment, as offered by BMW Financial Services.
Following complete configuration, car builders can print an individualized fact
sheet to present to their nearest BMW Retail Centre, or park their vehicle in
AutoPhile, a personal parking lot that will store the BMWs they have designed.
Car builders can park up to ten customized vehicles and access them at any time
to compare features, pricing, packages or finance options.
BMW is planning well into the new millennium with its Internet and e-commerce
strategy. Manfred Br?unl, National Marketing Manager with BMW Canada Inc.
explains: "Our Internet strategy intends not only to inform prospective
customers, but also to energize sales by means of the Internet and accompany
customers during their BMW ownership experience."
BMW Canada Inc., established in 1986 as a wholly-owned subsidiary of BMW AG, is
responsible for the distribution of BMW luxury performance automobiles and
motorcycles, and is represented by a network of 31 automobile and 15 motorcycle
retailers across the country.
