Whitby, Ontario... Just in time for this year's motorcycle season, BMW unveiled
today its newest addition to the Rider Equipment program.
The new Rally suit is similar in design and function to the actual suits used
in the Paris-Dakar-Cairo Rally 2000, where the BMW Gauloises Motorcycle Team
finished in the first four positions.
"The new Rally suit is designed for the type of extreme conditions desert
marathon riding is associated with," said Norm Wells, National Motorcycle
Manager.
Perfectly matched in colour to the special F650 Dakar motorcycle, the
black-and-white two-piece suit is made of tear-resistant Cordura 500, with a
double layer of protection at the elbows. Around the knees, the highly
wear-resistant Schoeller K 300 is used with leather pads. CE protectors are
used for the shoulders and elbows, with three adjustment positions at the
knees. There are also pockets for retrofitting back and hip protectors. The
Rally suit features stretch zones at the seat, knees and thighs with
ventilation via zippers with back-up net lining at the chest, back, sleeves and
trouser legs.
In addition to five outer pockets, the Rally suit has an inside pocket and
special right sleeve pocket with window. Another interesting feature is a start
number pocket, which can be attached at the front or rear and may be used for
holding items like maps.
For protection against wind and rain, a watertight and active breathing liner
is available with a zipper connection. For refreshment on the road, there is
also a retrofitting two-litre CamelBak with an attachable drinking tube.
BMW's new Rally suit is available at all BMW Motorcycle Retailers across the
country. The jacket is priced at $639.50, trousers $499.50, the jacket liner
$295.50 and the pant liner $235.50. The CamelBak retails at $94.50.
