BMW Motorrad Canada announced today the offering of a special version of the BMW R 1150 R Rockster in recognition of the 80th anniversary of BMW Motorrad. Limited to 2003 units worldwide, the R 1150 R Rockster Special Edition 80 will be available in late April. Pricing will remain the same as the standard R 1150 R Rockster at $15,990.

Whitby, Ontario... BMW Motorrad Canada announced today the offering of a
special version of the BMW R 1150 R Rockster in recognition of the 80th
anniversary of BMW Motorrad. Limited to 2003 units worldwide, the R 1150 R
Rockster Special Edition 80 will be available in late April. Pricing will
remain the same as the standard R 1150 R Rockster at $15,990.
Distinguishing features will include an exclusive paint White/Sapphire Black
Metallic, with a black dual seat, integral ABS and '80 Years' badging. The
motorcycle will be delivered to R 1150 R Rockster Special Edition 80 customers
with a commemorative folder including a certificate of authenticity and a
booklet documenting 80 years of BMW Motorrad.
Built upon a rich history, BMW Motorrad has pioneered such innovations and
technology as ABS and digital engine electronics. Introduced in 1988, the K 100
RS and K 100 LT were the industry's first production motorcycles equipped with
anti-lock brakes. The same year also saw another production motorcycle first
with the K 1 featuring digital engine electronics. Following this in 1991, BMW
Motorrad became the first manufacturer to offer catalytic converters. Given
that constant improvement and customer benefits are of the utmost importance,
all of the above mentioned technologies have been made standard equipment and
in the case of ABS, optional equipment, on the entire model range.
A clear commitment to engineering has been a hallmark of BMW Motorrad's first
80 years, and this tradition to excellence is set to continue.
