Woodcliff Lake, NJ... The BMW 3 Series and M3 landed yet another prestigious
ranking on Car and Driver magazine's list of 10Best cars, which appears in its
January 2004 issue. The 3 Series has made the list for 13 consecutive years
now, more consecutive appearances than any other car.
"An eager-revving inline six-cylinder engine and a slick-shifting manual
transmission come standard on every car, as do a cockpit that fits like a
custom-tailored wetsuit and controls that work and respond like second nature.
A BMW 3 Series car never lets its driver forget that getting there is at least
half of the fun," praised the editors of Car and Driver in their assessment of
the 3 Series.
Tom Purves, Chairman of BMW (US) Holding Corp. added, "The 3 Series is our
core product-it defines our brand better than all other models- and sales have
continued to increase through the years. I'm pleased to see BMW receive
recognition year after year by the editors of such an influential publication.
During 2004 we will see further enhancements for the 3 Series, the most
exciting of which is the introduction of the new Performance Package for the
330Ci Coupe and Convertible. It will deliver even more of what enthusiasts like
the editors at Car and Driver have come to appreciate in the BMW 3 Series."
To be eligible for the 10Best competition for 2004, a vehicle must be available
in showrooms in January 2004 and have a Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price
of no more than $69,000. All vehicles are tested and evaluated by the editors
of Car and Driver, who then rate the vehicles on a scale of 1 to 100. The ten
cars with the highest scores are named the "10Best".
