In 2008 BMW Motorrad will be reducing the seat height of selected motorcycle
models by up to 55 mm (depending on the model) with a package of various
measures. This lowering package will be available as an optional extra and is
installed ex works.

Depending on their body height, less experienced motorcyclists and restarters
often only feel safe when stationary on their bike if both feet reach to the
ground. The company offers the new lowering measures for such customers. The
measures will be introduced successively.

The offer of lowering ex works is as follows:

Model / Seat height with lowering as optional extra / Lowest seat height to
date / Availability
R 1200 R / 750 mm / 770 mm / Spring 2008
R 1200 GS / 790 mm / 820 mm / Spring 2008
R 1200 RT / 750 mm / 780 mm / Spring 2008
F 800 S/ST / 760 mm / 815 mm / Already available
F 650 GS (new) / 765 mm / --- / Spring 2008

The basis for the extended seat height reduction in all models is a lowered
chassis. This has already been available for the F 800 S/ST since spring 2007.
Together with the existing low seats, this achieves a further seat height
reduction as compared to previously. For the R 1200 R and R 1200 RT this low
seat height has also been optimised. It continues to be available for all
motorcycles separately, without the lowered chassis.

The lowered chassis cannot be ordered in conjunction with the special equipment
option "ESA".
