BMW announces pricing for BMW X5 M and X6 M

Whitby – BMW Canada is pleased to announce pricing for the highly anticipated BMW X5 M and X6 M. The first BMW Sport Activity Vehicles to be produced with the M badge will arrive in Canadian showrooms in late 2009. The 2010 X5 M will debut with an MSRP of $97,900 and the 2010 X6 M with an MSRP of $99,900.

The new SAV members of the BMW M family set new standards of acceleration, lateral grip, steering response, balance and stopping power in their respective segments. The X5M and X6M are powered by a newly-developed 4.4-litre V8 M engine delivering 555 hp at 6,000 rpm and 500 lb-ft of torque from 1,500 to 5,650 rpm, enabling both models to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in just 4.7 seconds. This new M engine is the world’s first with a pulse-tuned exhaust manifold encompassing both rows of cylinders combined with high-performance twin-scroll twin turbo technology.

M-specific xDrive on the X5M and X6M, along with Dynamic Performance Control, Dynamic Stability Control with M Dynamic Mode, Adaptive Drive and newly-developed M-specific Servotronic power steering ensures the ultra-high performance levels of roadholding and agility consistent with the M family .

Braking capacity will naturally be in keeping with the high-performance characteristics of the X5M and X6M, with giant four-piston fixed calipers at the front, floating calipers at the rear and massive, internally-vented lightweight brake discs measuring 395 mm in diameter in the front and 385 mm in the rear.

This combination of features coalesces in the X5M and X6M to push the limits of what was previously thought possible with a sports-oriented activity vehicle.
