Munich (DE), 25th October 2016. The BMW Motorrad Motorsport teams raced successfully in South America last weekend. In Londrina (BR) the seventh round of the 2016 SuperBike Series Brasil (BRSBK) was held. Once again a BMW S 1000 RR rider stood on the top step of the podium: Diego Pierluigi (AR) of the BMW Motorrad Alex Barros Racing team. Championship leader Danilo Lewis (BR / TecFil Racing Team) rounded off the success by finishing in third position.

It was Pierluigi’s second outing on the RR. On his debut in September, he won with an advantage of over six seconds. This time, the Argentinian secured victory in a nail-biting thriller. Pierluigi was running in second place for most of the race, but was always close to leader Diego Faustino (BR). On the penultimate lap, the RR racer started a strong manoeuvre and took the lead that he defended up to the chequered flag. He also set the fastest race lap.

Lewis won his battle for third place on the podium to defend his overall lead. Sebastiano Zerbo (IT) crossed the line in sixth on the other RR entered by the BMW Motorrad Alex Barros Racing team.

Two more rounds will be held in the BRSBK with the season finale taking place in Curitiba (BR) on 4th December.
