BMW confirms official Canadian range figures for upcoming iX and i4 battery-electric vehicles; iX confirmed up to 521 km.

Richmond Hill, ON. Today, BMW Group Canada announced the confirmed, Canadian range figures for its upcoming iX and i4 battery-electric vehicles. All confirmed models and variants have surpassed initial estimates, further increasing the appeal of both vehicles for Canadian customers.

The 2022 BMW iX, the brand’s new electric flagship, has handily surpassed the 500 km threshold with a new, confirmed range of up to 521 km. This has added another 46 km over the initial estimate of 475, or nearly a 10% increase.

“We always try to be conservative with our data and figures at BMW, especially when it comes to early estimates,” said Andrew Scott, Director of Brand Management with BMW Group Canada. “To be able to confirm significant increases with the official range figures is fantastic news.”

The i4 M50 xDrive saw an even greater 13% increase over initial estimates, with a confirmed range up to 435 km. The i4 M50 brings xDrive all-wheel drive to the i4 and is the first fully electric performance model to come from BMW M GmbH.

The vehicles were certified with various wheel packages, as the diameter, width and aerodynamic properties of the various wheel designs all have various effects on range expectations.

The iX xDrive50, i4 eDrive40 and i4 M50 xDrive are expected to arrive in Canadian showrooms by the end of February, with many being pre-sold through BMW Canada’s online reservation tool. 

Two more versions of the iX, the M60 and entry-level xDrive40, have estimated range figures of 450 km and 322 km, respectively. Confirmed range figures for these two versions will follow. The iX M60 and xDrive40 are due to arrive in Canada in summer 2022.
