MINI goes a step further - three new models make their debut. MINI One D more powerful.

The driver of a MINI is, as a rule, a predominantly individualistic person. This is reason enough for MINI to further enhance the character of its vehicles. Therefore MINI is presenting three new models, each possessing its own particular styling and personality - the MINI Seven, the MINI Park Lane and the MINI Checkmate. Moreover, the MINI One will receive more distinctive characteristics with its engine having increased power and torque, giving the economic four-seater greater agility and making it even more fun to drive. The new models will be available from beginning of October 2005 on.

The driver of a MINI is, as a rule, a predominantly individualistic
person. This is reason enough for MINI to further enhance the character
of its vehicles. Therefore MINI is presenting three new models, each
possessing its own particular styling and personality - the MINI Seven,
the MINI Park Lane and the MINI Checkmate. Moreover, the MINI One D
will receive more distinctive characteristics with its engine having
increased power and torque, giving the economic four-seater greater
agility and making it even more fun to drive. The new models will be
available from beginning of October 2005 on. Attractive trio for all
tastes. The MINI Seven, the MINI Park Lane and the MINI Checkmate
continue the long-standing brand tradition and have been specifically
designed to meet the demands of a diverse clientele. With an extensive
range of optional equipment, these three new models will offer even
more MINI at an extremely competitive price. But it doesn't end there.
Exclusive new metallic paintwork, new light alloy wheels, upholstery,
design elements and interior surfaces set the tone in these new MINI
models, thereby emphasizing their uniqueness. The three new MINI
Characters are, of course, also available with a wide range of body
colours, seat covers and special equipment options to suit each
personal preference. There are literally no limits to how far one's
imagination and individuality can go. Deep-seated roots. Authenticity
and a commitment to the tradition of the famous predecessor are
reflected not only in the vehicle concept, but also in the model
designations, the names having been derived from the three successful
versions of the original Mini. The MINI Seven is a modern
interpretation of the forefather of all MINIs, namely the Austin Seven
that has been presented by Alec Issigonis in 1959, only short time
later known as the Mini. At that particular time this car was
successful in creating a whole new vehicle class, eventually leaving its
mark on the entire MINI brand image. The new MINI Park Lane has taken
its name from an exclusive version of the original Mini built in 1987,
and the sporty MINI Checkmate owes its name to a further special
edition brought to market in 1990. The lifestyle car - the MINI Seven.
This MINI, available as MINI One, MINI One D and MINI Cooper versions,
has been designed predominantly with the lifestyle-orientated customer
in mind. The new metallic body colour Solar Red is available
exclusively for the MINI Seven and is extremely well matched to the
typical MINI design. Those purchasing the MINI Cooper Seven have the
choice between a roof finished either in body colour, white or black or
in the attractive new contrasting colour silver. The exterior mirror
housings are finished in each respective contrasting colour. The roof of
the MINI One Seven comes in body colour as standard, the exterior mirror
housings in glossy black. The boldly displayed "7" located
below the front left-hand side indicator light, on the rear right-hand
wing and on the black doorsills underlines the unique product substance
and the fun that is to be had when driving a MINI Seven. In addition to
the new 15" light alloy wheels Delta Spoke, fog lamps and white
indicator lights, a roof spoiler (not available for the diesel version)
give the car a bold look. The circular symbol characteristic of the
MINI Seven is found not only on the new, model-specific black seat
covers, but also as a striking design feature of the newly-styled
interior surfaces. The extensive range of MINI Seven standard
equipment includes, inter alia and in addition to the aforementioned
features, a leather-covered steering wheel, air conditioning, ASC+T,
the radio Wave, on-board computer, a light and storage package as well
as height-adjustable seats for driver and front seat passenger. The
German market price for the MINI One Seven is 16,900 Euros, the diesel
version with 88 bhp starting at 18,550 Euros and the MINI Cooper Seven
at 18,650 Euros. Compact exclusiveness - The MINI Park Lane. This name
is synonymous with exclusiveness, luxury and noblesse. Featuring
exclusive styling, high-quality materials such as immaculately crafted
leather and chrome as well as an extensive range of standard equipment,
this car will do justice to even the most discerning of tastes. The
MINI Park Lane, for which the new metallic paint Royal Grey was
especially created, is available for all MINI model variants. Combined
with the roof in the new contrasting colour silver (for MINI Cooper and
MINI Cooper S), the full effect of this distinguished colour becomes
clearly perceptible. This effect is further enhanced by the roof spoiler
(not available for the diesel), the Chrome Line exterior, the
chrome-plated mirror housings and the stylish 16" light alloy
wheels Bridge Spoke. In the case of the MINI One and MINI One D
versions, the roof of the MINI Park Lane is available in body colour
only. The interior is further evidence that this new model is
definitely in a class of its own. Together with interior surfaces
finished in body colour, the bicolour leather-covered steering wheel
and the Chrome Line interior trims, the leather-covered seats in
Panther Black featuring a pipe design create an ambience of colour
harmony and sophistication. Automatic climate control, which comes as
standard, guarantees the ideal interior temperature at all times. The
MINI Park Lane is committed to understatement, the discreet logos
located on the doorsills, B-pillar and at the front above the side
indicator light being the only external indication of the car's
exclusive status. Those who find this just a little too discreet can
order the optional silver bonnet stripes which will provide that extra
touch of exclusivity. In addition to the specifications already
listed, the range of standard equipment includes, inter alia, ASC+T,
fog lamps, white indicator lights, CD/radio Boost, on-board computer,
light and storage package as well as height-adjustable seats for driver
and front seat passenger. Here are the German market prices for the
MINI Park Lane: MINI One Park Lane: 19,100 Euros MINI One D Park Lane:
20,700 Euros MINI Cooper Park Lane: 20,800 Euros MINI Cooper S Park
Lane: 23,650 Euros Sporting appeal - The MINI Checkmate. The design of
the MINI Checkmate will most certainly appeal to the sports-minded
driver and is available in both the MINI Cooper and MINI Cooper S
versions. The silver 17" light alloy wheels featuring the Flame
Spoke design, the chequered flag symbol on both sides of the panel, the
contrasting roof colour and mirror housings in silver are ideally
matched to the exclusive Space Blue body colour finish. The optional,
newly designed silver bonnet stripe complements the contrasting roof
with spoiler, thereby accentuating the car's sporty image even further.
The sporty but elegant interior boasting surfaces finished in Space
Blue, sport seats with cloth/leather covers in a contrasting blue and
silver colour scheme as well as a bicolour leather steering wheel all
emphasize the car's unique character. The symbolized chequered flag is
to be found not only on the body, but also on the doorsills. The
model-specific basic equipment range for the MINI Checkmate includes,
inter alia, ASC + T, sports suspension Plus, fog lamps, light and
storage package as well as height-adjustable seats for driver and front
seat passenger. The MINI Cooper Checkmate is on sale in Germany for
20,300 Euros. The top of the range MINI Cooper S Checkmate is available
for 23,100 Euros. Also, when the new MINI models were conceived, great
importance was attached to individuality. Consequently, the MINI
Characters are available also with an option of further body colours.
From 21 June 2005 onwards those interested can see the new MINI
Characters at www.mini.com. More diesel power for the MINI. Diesel
fans are bound to be enthusiastic when the MINI One D is launched in the
autumn featuring a stronger four-cylinder power unit. Compared to its
predecessor, the new MINI One D has received a 20 percent boost in power
and, with 65 kW / 88 bhp, is now even sportier and more agile. This
is partly due to a 'beefier' torque curve. Thanks to the variable turbo
geometry - a unique feature in this class - torque, which was increased
to 190 Nm, is now available within a wide engine speed range of between
1,800 and 3,000 rpm. The compact aluminium engine displacing 1.4
litres has been thoroughly revised and now offers noticeably improved
road performance and optimised response, whilst proving equally as
economical as its predecessor. The new MINI One D sprints from 0 to 62
mph in 11.9 seconds and accomplishes the fourth-gear spurt (six-speed
gearbox) from 50 to 75 mph in just 10.1 seconds. The four-cylinder
engine responds well and puts on a convincing performance both during
relaxed cruising and when the car is driven more ambitiously.
Automatic Stability Control + Traction (ASC+T), which comes as standard,
ensures that the MINI One D transfers its beefy torque safely to the
road at all times. The newcomer's top speed is 175 km/h (109 mph).
Despite the increase in performance, the free-revving diesel is a rare
visitor to the filling station. Fuel consumption over a distance of 100
km in the composite EU cycle is a mere 4.8 litres of diesel, this
equalling a CO2 emission of 129 g/km. Depending on the style of
driving, a full tank will be sufficient for around 1,000 kilometres of
sheer motoring pleasure. The MINI One D complies with all EU4 emission
standards. This is due, inter alia, to Common Rail Injection with
revised engine management and injectors, cooled exhaust re-circulation
with integrated catalytic converter as well as a modified exhaust
system featuring a large-capacity oxidation catalytic converter.
Moderate price increase for all MINI models. On 1st September 2005 MINI
will increase the prices of all petrol-driven models by around two
percent. At the same time, however, all MINI models will include the
radio Wave as standard. Due to the marked increase in power, the price
of the MINI One D will go up by 700 Euros. As a result, in Germany
the following prices will come into effect as from 1st September 2005:
MINI One: 15,100 Euros MINI One D: 16,900 Euros MINI Cooper: 17,000
Euros MINI Cooper S: 20,800 Euros MINI One Convertible: 18,700 Euros
MINI Cooper Convertible: 20,400 Euros MINI Cooper S Convertible: 24,400 Euros.
