Ciudad de México. June 10, 2026. Maru Escobedo, President and CEO of BMW Group Latin America, announces that effective September 1, Bertino Blazquez is appointed CFO of BMW Group Latin America and will relocate to Mexico City. Bertino will succeed Michael Rainer, who will take on new challenges at BMW Group AG in Munich.
Bertino Blazquez is originally from Spain. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Business and Economics from the University of Salamanca, Spain. With more than 22 years of experience in the automotive industry, he began his career at BMW Group Spain in 2004 as a finance controller and, in 2012, assumed the position of Head of Finance Controlling at the same company. Bertino held the position of CFO for BMW Group Portugal NSC from 2017 to 2019. He then moved to BMW Group Latin America as Finance Controlling Manager until 2024, when he was appointed CFO for BMW Group Middle East.
Michael Rainer, who has been with BMW Group since 2000 and has held leadership positions in different countries such as Germany, Italy, Malaysia, Thailand and, most recently, in the Latin America region, will take on new responsibilities back in Munich.
“On behalf of BMW Group Latin America, I would like to extend my gratitude to Michael Rainer for his leadership and commitment as CFO for the region. Under his financial stewardship, our organization has continued to deliver sustainable growth. At the same time, it is a great pleasure to warmly welcome Bertino Blazquez as our new CFO. With 22 years within BMW Group, his strong financial expertise and his previous experience in Mexico as part of BMW Group Latin America’s controlling team – as well as his recent role as CFO in the Middle East – will be key assets in making the right decisions to support the continued growth of our business in the region. We thank Michael for his valuable contribution and wish him every success in his next chapter, and we also wish Bertino all the best as he takes on this new role back in Mexico”, Maru Escobedo, President and CEO of BMW Group Latin America.
