Woodcliff Lake, NJ - August 2, 2006... BMW Motorrad came, saw and conquered at
its debut in the 84th running of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb held
in July. BMW's Off-road Factory Team rider Simo Kirssi, of Finland, and guest
rider Casey Yarrow, of California, dominated the Exhibition Class for
motorcycles above 750 cc on their HP 2 Enduros, taking first and second
positions. In the unofficial total ranking of all motorcycles, the BMW riders
are placed fifth and sixth.

The second-oldest race in the United States, the Pikes Peak International Hill
Climb is a longstanding tradition in Colorado Springs, CO. Since 1916, daring
drivers and motorcyclists have challenged the famous road. The course begins
at 9,200 feet and ends 12.4 miles later at the 14,100-foot summit of Pikes
Peak. Along the way are 156 corners, many of which are hairpins, cliffs of
2,000 feet and no guardrails. About a third of the track is now paved, while
the remainder is a sand-covered, heavily compressed natural path. The "Race to
the Clouds" features a variety of automotive and motorcycle classes with an
average of 150 drivers and 500 volunteers.

Casey Yarrow finished in 12.20 minutes - seven seconds ahead of Kirssi.
Yarrow, the 26-year-old Supermoto sensation from Fairfield, California was the
fastest rookie with an average of just under 62 mph and a total time below the
track record up to last year - a milestone in PPIHC race history. With a top
speed of 97 mph, Kirssi posted the top performance for motorcycles.

"I have no experience on asphalt," commented Kirssi, known as the 'Flying
Finn,' "and four hours of training isn't enough to be really fast."

Casey Yarrow, a leading contender in the US Supermoto Series, praised the HP 2
Enduro ("a great bike) and beamed after his successful performance.

"I hope to be in it again next year when BMW has a second go," he said.

Berthold Hauser, general manager of BMW Motorsport and HP-Products for BMW
Motorrad, was more than satisfied with his team's showing.

"We came here as rookies and we're taking a class victory home with us," he
commented. "This demonstrates where we are, and next year we will certainly be
able to get involved in the overall rankings."
