MINI Canada introduces the John Cooper Works Tuning Kit

Whitby. MINI Canada is pleased to announce the availability of a John Cooper
Works Tuning kit for the new MINI Cooper S. The new kit, designed specifically
for the new generation Cooper S with a manual transmission, offers increased
horsepower and torque over that of the standard model, along with a more
muscular exhaust note and distinctive JCW badging .

The 1.6 litre twin-scroll turbo engine in the MINI Cooper S receives a power
increase from 172 to 189 horsepower with maximum torque extended from 177 ft-lb
between 1,000 and 5,000 rpm to 185 ft-lb between 1,750 and 5,000 rpm. In
combination with the MINI's standard overboost function, peak torque with the
tuning kit reaches a temporary level of up to 200 ft-lb between 1,750 and 4,500
rpm.

When compared to the previous generation MINI Cooper S with JCW, the new
generation MINI Cooper S equipped with the JCW Tuning kit shaves a remarkable
1.3 seconds off the 80-120 km/hr 6th-gear acceleration time.

The JCW Tuning kit consists of:
* A stainless steel, parallel-flow, low backpressure Sport Exhaust System with
superb interior and exterior acoustic characteristics. The system adds a
throatier, more powerful exhaust note, and has distinctive-looking twin chrome
exhaust tips engraved with the John Cooper Works logos.
* A larger aperture air box to allow more fresh air to enter though a special
low restriction filter element. In addition to dramatically increasing the
airflow, the new air box creates a more powerful induction sound that
compliments the impressive growl from the performance exhaust.
* Enhanced Electronic Control Unit programming - recalibrated to optimize power
output, throttle response and increasing acceleration in the mid-range torque
band. The reprogramming optimizes the power output by managing all engine
control functions including airflow, combustion, fuel delivery and spark
advance.
* Chrome John Cooper Works badge distinctively positioned on the front grille
and rear deck lid. Under the hood, the low restriction air box is also
distinguished with a John Cooper Works logo.

Works kit is covered by the 2 year, unlimited mileage MINI Parts and Accessory
Warranty or the balance of the 4 year, 80,000 kilometer new car limited
warranty, whichever is greater.

The John Cooper Works Tuning Kit has an MSRP of $2342.50 plus a recommended
installation labour time of two hours.
