Munich. BMW is celebrating three milestone anniversaries: it's now 50 years
since the first BMW Isetta left the production line. In that same year, the BMW
507 also hit the streets. Exactly 30 years ago, BMW developed the first 3
series which still remains a tremendous success today. Reason enough to
celebrate these milestones in a fitting manner - with perfectly-made miniatures
for fans, BMW lovers and collectors. Dynamism, superlative quality, design and
innovation are demands that are firmly associated with the BMW brand. And these
demands are met just as fully in the miniature models as they are in the
original vehicles.
The BMW Isetta
The "egg on wheels", as it is affectionately known, was the embodiment of the
reawakening spirit experienced in Germany in the 1950s. For many, this tiny car
made their dream of owning their own car finally come true. In 1955, the BMW
Isetta was unveiled to the public for the first time and immediately stole the
hearts of car lovers - the Motocoupé just looked incredibly appealing. The
Isetta was also inexpensive to run, economical to buy and extremely reliable.
The 1:18-scale miniatures loses none of the charm that makes the BMW Isetta -
both then and now - so incomparable. The model was manufactured based on the
original plans using the die-cast zinc method, thus recreating perfectly the
finish and attention to detail of the originals: The characteristic Isetta
front door, the large, panoramic windscreens, the chrome-plated luggage rack
and the rain strip, together with the all-round bumper are all there in the
miniature version. The steering and wheels can be turned.
The anniversary model is available in a limited edition of just 1,955. The
miniature has a very special exterior design: the Munich skyline is printed
over a royal-blue background. The roof and the upper halves of the doors are
painted in white. The base plinth is designed with an attractive wood grain.
One interesting detail is that the original model of this miniature Isetta was
unveiled at Techno Classica and is a unique piece!
The BMW 507
The American dream. The birth of a legend. These are both accolades that have
been and still are attributed to BMW's sports cars. BMW wanted to establish
itself on the roadster market with a top-notch, racy two-seater. The car's
success story shows that the firm well and truly succeeded. 50 years after its
creation, BMW is also paying homage to its loyal fans and relaunching the
legendary model in a 1:18 scale.
The model will be available in a limited edition of just 1,955. Just like the
original vehicle, the BMW 507 in miniature format packs an impressive punch
with its seemingly endless bonnet. Under the bonnet, the hand-painted details
of the engine will make the hearts of BMW fans beat that little bit faster. The
doors and tailgates are mobile, just like the steering wheel. Even the wheels
are equipped with Rudge hubs - a contemporary accessory. If you prefer your BMW
507 covered, the separate soft top can be fitted with ease. The exterior is
metallic blue and goes perfectly with the sandy yellow interior. The floor area
is dark blue. The wood-effect base plinth has the date inscribed on it. For
true fans, the anniversary miniature also has the BMW 507's hand-held central
locking device as a key fob (also limited to 1,955 copies) to offer.
The 3 series BMW
In 1975, exactly 30 years ago, BMW ushered in a new era. The automobile company
wanted to offer its mid-class customers a car that was both sporty and
exclusive - and so the idea for the BMW 3 series was born.
Even in the mid 1970s, BMW was setting the standards in terms of design,
dynamism and comfort with its first 3 series. This is also noticeable with the
BMW 3 series miniatures. The 1:18 scale model offers sneak peeks into the
engine and chassis technology. The interior is also lavishly finished, showing
the vehicle with accurately dimensioned proportions - a real feast for the eyes
of any collector.
The BMW anniversary miniatures are available from selected BMW dealers.
