1. Introduction
The BMW Multi-Model Launch marks the start of another successful chapter in the
history of BMW. It heralds the introduction of the most powerful convertible,
the most powerful diesel engine and the most expensive car BMW UK has ever
offered. At the same time, the introduction of an all-new diesel engine in
the 3 Series Saloon appealing to the cost conscious business and private buyer
alike and new power plants in the 3 Series Touring and the 3 Series Coupé give
the 3 Series range its broadest appeal ever. Revisions to the BMW X3 Sports
Activity Vehicle round off a launch highlighting the widest range of cars ever
offered by BMW.
Jim O'Donnell, Managing Director, BMW UK Ltd, said: "Once again BMW is able
to prove why it is the best selling premium marque. The introduction of a
large, diverse selection of new models such the M6 Convertible and a new X3
2.0d highlights the demand for a broad BMW product portfolio. These new
additions continue our successful sales offensive and underline the talent of
our engineers and designers."
"Overall, new car sales in the UK are declining but BMW continues to buck this
trend with steady annual increases, aided primarily by new model launches. In
2005, BMW sold a record 111,666 cars in the UK and we are expecting to post an
increase on that by the end of 2006. With an even busier year in 2007, we
expect BMW UK to remain comfortably ahead of its competitors."
